Who doesn’t love Paris? We never tire of coming here! To get in the Paris mood, following are a few pictures to set the tone. The first picture is of the Seine River, and the second is obviously of the Eiffel Tower. Both these pictures were taken from the Pont Neuf, translated to “the new bridge,” but it is actually the oldest bridge.
Staying at a hotel very near the Louvre Museum, we had a very short walk across the Pont Neuf to the Île de la Cité where we had dinner at La Rose de France. During dinner we were astounded to see “a first,” a steady stream of runners, numbering close to 100! They circled the area numerous times, and there were lots of them! Following is us at the restaurant and a photo to prove we actually saw joggers in Paris.
I have two favorite monuments, the Space Needle and the Eiffel Tower. I never tire of looking at them or taking pictures of them. We were real tourists and had lunch at Madame Brasserie on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. Following are different views looking up and at the Eiffel Tower. It really is a massive structure. My favorite photo is the last one. Security is being ramped up everywhere, presumably because of the upcoming Olympic Games here this summer. There was wire around the Eiffel Tower, and everyone was required to go through a security screening just to enter the grounds. Then we were screened again before getting on the elevator to go to the restaurant.
A perfect end to our day was a concert at Saint Chapelle, which has the most magnificent stained glass windows. Again, going to the concert required going through two security areas with bags being checked.
Leaving the concert, I noticed one more photo I had to take. We been to Paris 20+ times, and yet we never tire of this city. Tomorrow is another day to enjoy more of what Paris has to offer.
So happy to hear every detail. I’ve been there once and could go again many times!
Paris is a magical place, in my opinion. I never ever tire of being here.
Amazing pictures Donna! I can see why you don’t get tired of Paris. Glad you have a chance to keep enjoying “la ville lumber”…..My 12 granddaughter was there last Summer, so I will send her your pictures as she will remember some of the sights!
Donna,
I’m so jealous! I used to live in Paris and it aways will feel like my “hometown”.
ENJOY,
Gabi
I loved Paris when I was there years ago, was fortunate to stay with friends on the left bank so really felt the Parisian life including Bastile day in the streets and then lucky to go on to Barbizon area, enjoying many artists. I loved this church, you have a beautiful photo of the gorgeous stained glass windows, in ways more beautiful than Notre Dame
Thanks for sharing Joan
You are so lucky to have lived here! If I couldn’t live in the U.S., this is where I would go!
Hi Donna, you are so lucky once again! Hope you had lunch at the Eiffel before the 20% increase they have just published….eat well! Enjoy! Mimi
I had reserved a while ago, so I think we had the “better” rate, although I wouldn’t say it was inexpensive! Interestingly, meals seem reasonably priced here, but maybe that’s because we are used to Naples pricing!
Our favorite city by far!!! So many
wonderful memories. We LOVE these
beautiful photos….thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to enjoying the
rest of your week.
Thank you,dear Donna,
The pictures are gorgeous, and they bring so many memories of this beloved city!
